"Remember the wonders he has done..." --I Chronicles 16:12a
--By Melanie
Today I set sail on a journey of remembrance.
I lay down anchors to keep me steady from the wind and the waves. These anchors are memories of God's faithfulness to me and my family.
How God placed me in a family of faith--great grandparents who left everything, including family and religion, to follow Him, grand parents who left a spiritual legacy by their actions and prayers, and parents who taught me about more about Him.
How he awakened my heart to him at the age of six, and provided friends and mentors who guided me in my growing, fragile faith. How he allowed me to grow up in a country of opportunity and freedom. Opportunities for women to learn and develop, and freedom of choice and conscience; the freedom to follow him.
How he fashioned dreams and goals within me, and allowed me to achieve them. In a world where so many people do not get a university education, I was able to study and learn. How he allowed me to travel the world, in order to catch a glimpse of his heart for people, and his heart for me.
How he developed my faith by lovingly taking me through tough and trying times. How during my lonely travel to India, he provided me with a friend--a friendship that eventually led me to my husband. How he has shown me a glimpse of his love through my relationship with Ryan.
Not to mention, how he has continually provided for my emotional, physical, and intellectual needs on an ongoing basis. How he has fulfilled my greatest spiritual need--the need for forgiveness, grace, love, and PEACE--peace with HIM.
And though currently all is calm, I am confident that when the wind and waves crash around me, God's peace, along with these anchors will keep me steadfast and secure through the storms of life. amen.
(so lay down your anchors friends)
